Turning Point in History
Charles Darwin's Theory is a major turning point in history. It is a turning point in history because it changed how people thought about species and even themselves. This occurred when Darwin wrote the book The Origin of Species, which explained to people that all species evolved over time from a common ancestor. Also it told how evolution happened by natural selection: when a species adapts to an environment, then survives, and finally produces more of their breed. Darwin began explaining his idea that Homo Sapiens evolved from apes. This made the Catholic Church angry because it goes against how the Bible states humans were created. Later, Darwin actually claimed that humans evolved from apes in his next book, The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex. This really made the church angry and started making people think the church could possibly be lying. The Theory of Evolution was a major turning point in history.
Another way that the theory had a turning point was in evolutionary science. Scientists in the past were having trouble finding out what actually occurred in evolution. This mystery ended when Charles Darwin came along. He showed in his books that evolution was determined by a process called natural selection. This is when species adapt to an environment and reproduce to make more of themselves. This theory became the main idea of evolution and still is today. However today there is a more advanced theory based on genetics. Another turning point in the science department was that it set the main idea to figure out from where we came. That answer is from single-celled organisms. Darwin was proven to be right recently because of new evolutionary experiments. In one experiment the question was asked: where did humans come from? The answer was one of the three "domains": bacteria, archaea, and eukaryotes, which is the group humans come from. Another experiment was tested for the creationists and that proved to fail because humans branched off the tree about 6,000 years ago. It makes people want to know the truth and that is why scientists work on that idea today. Darwin's theory is one theory that makes people want to learn the truth.

Interesting fact number four. Darwin did not like the idea of slavery. He first saw it in South America and also dedicated some of his famous book On the Origin of Species to saying slavery is horrible.
