Background
A picture of Darwin in his 20's
Darwin had a very adventurous and eventful life. His first event was that he was born February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury, England. His next key point in his life is when he went on the HMS Beagle to tour the Galapagos Islands and South America. This was a key point because it was the trip that gave him evidence about his theory of evolution, and advanced his scientific thoughts by experiencing the science in different areas around the world. Another key point was when Darwin published On the Origin of Species. This was a key point in his life because it was what made him famous, but not fully in a good way. For some, such as scientists, believed it was magnificent. They thought it was the "bridge to their gap" in evolution. However not everyone thought it was wonderful. These people, mostly religious people, believed it was a horrific thought because it went against the bible. Because of this, people protested and made Darwin look like a fool. A third key event was when he published his second evolutionary book, The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex. This event made things worse because he fully stated that humans evolved from apes. It made sense to many especially Darwin, however this angered the church, so they called Darwin "the ape man." After this it was a war between the church and Darwin, and his friends. In the end, both sides decided to put their differences aside, however the church still resists to this day. But on the bright side, Darwin was named the best scientist in evolution. His last event was his death on April 19,1882. His life was made difficult by many, but he had a life full of achievements and adventure.
Interesting fact number three. Darwin was actually born the same day as Abraham Lincoln February 12, 1809. They were also very similar in many ways such as they felt strongly against slavery.
